April 2, 2008: Version 1.5.1

New Features

  • [Web Client] The message list in the Web Client now automatically updates itself when there are new messages.
  • [Toolbar] Retractable email2 Pane. The email2 Pane in Outlook can now be collapsed by clicking the Retract button. By default, the email2 Pane is not displayed when reading a basic email message. For email2 messages, the pane can be expanded or collapsed on demand. The pane has also been graphically upgraded to look more like the Web Client Delivery Slip.
  • [Toolbar] Left-clicking on an attachment in the email2 Pane now opens a "Save or Open" dialog.
  • [Toolbar] Asynchronous attachment uploading. You can now upload attachments without tying up Outlook. If a large attachment has not completed uploading when a recipient receives the message, he or she will see the attachment status as "Uploading" and it will become available once the sender completes the upload.
  • [Server] Member Packages are now implemented. Members of the oPEN Network have the option to upgrade their accounts to remove limitations. Premium accounts allow:
    • 25 invites per day.
    • 250 messages per day
    • 2000 MB Encrypted Attachment Storage
    • 5000 MB/mth Encrypted Attachment Bandwidth

Premium packages can be purchased through a secure PayPal system, which has been integrated with the email2 Web Client.

Users can view their package restrictions in the Account Settings area of the email2 Web Client.

  • [Server] The www.email2.com website now has Single Sign-on (SSO) functionality. From the homepage (www.email2.com), users can log in with an account for any Private Email Network (PEN), and they will be provided with the full list of PENs that they belong to, along with any PENs that are open for them to join. If a user doesn't have an account with any PENs, entering an email address and password will begin the registration process with oPEN by inviting them to join.
  • [All] Numerous cosmetic, stability and security enhancements have been rolled out.
